ODF Statment on the Killing of Oromo Students & Civilians

Official ODF Logo

In the last four weeks furious clashes have occurred between peaceful Oromo protesters and Ethiopian security forces. Protests erupted in opposition to the government’s Addis Ababa Master Plan, which protesters fear would expand the capital into the towns and rural areas situated in the outlying zone of Oromia. Students, urban dwellers, and peasants across Oromia are peacefully demonstrating rejecting the violent imposition of the so called Master Plan, which, if implemented, will lead to the mass eviction of poor Oromo farmers from their ancestral land to make way for the capital’s expansion. ODF Statement

The Oromo Democratic Front (ODF) condemns in the strongest terms the killings and violent atrocities committed against Ethiopian immigrants in Libya, South Africa, and Yemen. OLF

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, under the UN charter, has an obligation to observe and protect human rights…

ODF Political Program

ODF Political Program

Adopted by Founding Congress 25-27 March 2013 Introduction Since its emergence as a modern state at the end of the 19th century through the brutal war of conquest under Menelik II, Ethiopia has been the prison of nations and nationalities, the Oromo being one of them. The conquest was one of genocidal campaigns leading to massive loss of life, disease and famine. Consequently the Oromo lost their freedom, land and other resources, and were reduced to serfs under the notorious gabbar system. Ever since, they have waged relentless struggles to regain their freedom and dignity by every available means at…
